First
Person Superhero
First Person Superhero is a workshop for teens who love
books and creative expression. In a salon-style atmosphere, students
will engage in dramatic readings, work on their own writing pieces, and
explore the characters and themes in literature and pop
culture.
Learn the habits of published writers by bringing your own writing in
progress, sharing your ideas, giving feedback, and sharing your
favorite authors.
Wendi Olson will guide you on a journey in literature throughout time.
We will examine the themes and archetypes of ancient myths,
Shakespeare, classic novels, modern poetry, and more. As we
discuss plots and characters, you will begin to identify your own
character and superpowers. What is your quest, and what are
your
dragons?
In a relaxed setting, you will develop analytical skills as a reader, a
more confident voice as a writer and speaker, and insight about your
own development and relationships.
Students who are working on SAT and college entrance essays will
impress their readers with their literary knowledge, insightful
connections, and self-awareness.
This workshop is designed for a limited number of participants and
encourages in-depth discussion and personalized feedback. Wendi will
help budding writers find their true voices, shape their stories, edit,
and find publishing opportunities.
Wendi Olson is a playwright, credentialed teacher, and trained
counselor.
